Q80

Formerly known as the Vakschool voor Banketbakkers (Pastry Baking School), ‘Q80’ is the name the house was given by the students who lived in the building between 2002 and 2010. In June 2020, after 2 years of renovation, the new Q80 was opened with 7 apartments. Each apartment with a theme inspired by the rich history of the building.

The whole building was renovated and decorated by its current owner Frans van Konijnenburg (www.fransinamsterdam.nl), with love for its history and its future inhabitants. Because a house is not just some walls and a roof, but a place filled with emotion and feelings, a home.

The Q80 has optimal thermal isolation, to lower the environmental footprint as much as possible and while the building has all modern comforts of electricity, gas and WiFi, it was made to be not dependent on it. That’s why 5 of the 7 apartments have a wood stove that can be used to warm the building in case of a power shortage. Against the fashion of the time, the lighting is not controlled with domotics.

Curious about the poem written on the glass in front of the building?

The apartments are for long-term rental.
